Bill Gates (1955-)
Bill Gates is an American business magnate and computer programmer who is the co-founder of Microsoft, the world’s largest PC software company. Since the company’s formation in 1975, Gates has held several positions including those of the chairman, CEO and chief software architect. One of the most famous entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution, he has been consistently ranked among the world’s wealthiest people starting from 1987. Born as the son of a successful lawyer, Bill Gates was encouraged from a young age to be competitive. Bright and curious, he developed an interest in computers while in school and wrote his first computer program as a young teenager.
Joaquin Phoenix (1974-)
Little did young Joaquin Phoenix or Leaf as he preferred to call himself during the early days knew that his stint of performing on the streets for a few pennies would change the course of his life for good. Born up in a financially unstable household, Phoenix took to singing and dancing as an added source of income for the family. However, he was soon spotted by a Hollywood children’s agent who brought this young star of his own right better and wider exposure. And rest as they say is history. Film after film, young Phoenix polished his acting skills to become a refine actor of his age. While he starred in a number of films since his debut in 1986, his big break came with the historical epic, ‘Gladiator’ which won him immense fame and acclaim as an actor.
Charlie Daniels (1936-)
Charlie Daniels, born as Charles Edward Daniels, is an American musician known for his characteristically southern rock, country and bluegrass music. He not only sings, but also plays various musical instruments like guitar, bass, fiddle and violin. As a child he grew up listening to music that included Pentecostal gospel, local bluegrass, the rhythm & blues and country music. During his teenage years he began to play guitar and fiddle, and by the time he was 21, he had realized that his calling in life was to become a professional musician. After graduating from high school he joined the rock ‘n’ roll revolution started by Elvis Presley.
Julia Roberts (1967-)
Julia Roberts is a renowned and acclaimed actress of recent times and well-known for her roles in movies such as ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘Steel Magnolias’ and ‘Erin Brockovich’. She had dreams of taking up many professions as a child but not one of an actress. However, as she grew up, she realised her true calling and embarked on her journey to become an actress. She even left her studies half-way in order to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress. Julia landed in New York, where she took acting training and simultaneously did modelling assignments to support herself financially. Gradually, she got her first break in television and then owing to her acting potential, she made it to the big screen.
Finn Wittrock (1984-)
Finn Wittrock is an American actor and screenwriter who is best recognized for playing the role of Dandy Mott in FX’s anthology series ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’. He was also seen as the murder victim Jeffrey Trail in the FX’s crime-drama series ‘The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story’. He then portrayed model Tristan Duffy and actor Rudolph Valentino on ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’, and had a guest role on ‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’. His other notable television performances include ‘CSI: Miami’, ‘All My Children’, ‘Masters of Sex’, and ‘Deadbeat’. Wittrock had starring roles in films like ‘My All American’, ‘The Submarine Kid’ and ‘Write When You Get Work’.
Lauren Holly (1963-)
Lauren Holly is a well-known American-Canadian actress best known for playing Deputy Sheriff Maxine Stewart in the TV series ‘Picket Fences’, Dr. Betty Rogers in the Canadian drama ‘Motive’ and Jenny Shepard in the series ‘NCIS’. Besides these, she is known for her movie roles in ‘Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story’, ‘Dumb and Dumber’, ‘Beautiful Girls’, ‘What Women Want’ and ‘Any Given Sunday’. Holly has also done notable work in television dramas ‘Chicago Hope’ and ‘The Adventures of Chuck & Friends’ as well as in television movies ‘A Country Wedding’, ‘My Summer Prince’, ‘Call Me Mrs. Miracle’, ‘Before You Say I Do’, ‘King of Texas’ and ‘Dangerous Heart’.
Bernie Ecclestone (1930-)
Bernie Ecclestone is a reputed British businessman, best known as the former CEO of the ‘Formula One Group,’ the company that manages the ‘Formula One’ races around the globe. Born and raised in South Elmham, near Bungay, Suffolk, he belonged to an average British family. He left school at the age of 16 and started working at a chemical laboratory. This was followed by a brief stint in trading spare parts for motorcycles. He also turned a racer for a while, but that life did not suit him. He further amassed a huge sum, owing to his success in real estate. Thereafter, he planned to begin his racing business – his first love. He returned to the game as a manager for drivers and went on to own the team ‘Brabham.’
