Joan Fontaine (1917-2013)
Joan Fontaine was an Academy Award-winning British American actress famous for movies like ‘Rebecca’ and ‘Suspicion.’ Beginning her career on the stage in the mid-1930s, she soon ventured into films and emerged as one of the superstars of the 1940s. Born in Japan to British parents, she moved to California with her mother after her parents split up. After completing her education she ventured into acting, following in the footsteps of her elder sister Olivia de Havilland who eventually became a prominent Hollywood celebrity. Joan began her acting career on the stage in 1935 and the same year she decided to venture into motion pictures.
Jeff Goldblum (1952-)
Jeff Goldblum is a noted American film, television, and stage actor. A student of New York’s ‘Sanford Meisner,’ he began his acting journey with theater. He started his acting career in films with ‘Death Wish’ wherein he played ‘Freak #1,’ a rapist. He made his small screen debut with his role as ‘Protector’ in an episode of ‘Columbo.’ After doing small parts in several films, he received favourable reviews for his role in ‘The Big Chill.’ Subsequently, he was offered good roles in films like ‘Into the Night’ and ‘Silverado.’ Thereafter, he steadily moved ahead in his film career with major hits like ‘The Fly,’ ‘Jurassic Park,’ ‘Nine Months,’ ‘Independence Day,’ ‘The Lost World: Jurassic Park,’ and ‘Morning Glory.’
Christopher Lloyd (1938-)
Christopher Allen Lloyd is a popular American actor and comedian best known for his role in the comedy film series ‘Back to the Future’. Born in Stamford, Connecticut, he started appearing in theatre from the early age of fourteen. After appearing in more than two hundred stage productions, he started making appearances on films while he was in his late thirties. He made his debut on the big screen with a supporting role in the comedy-drama film ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’. The film was not only a huge commercial success but also won five Oscars.
Bob Odenkirk (1962-)
Robert John ‘Bob’ Odenkirk is an award-winning American comedian, writer, actor, director and producer. He is best known for his role as a corrupt lawyer, Saul Goodman, in AMC’s crime drama series ‘Breaking Bad’ and its spin-off ‘Better Call Saul.’ He is also famous for the sketch-comedy series ‘Mr. Show with Bob and David’, which he developed and starred in with his stand-up comedian friend, David Cross. Born in Illinois, Bob began his career while still in the university at Carbondale, by hosting a radio comedy show. He later moved to Chicago and began working on improv workshops. In 1987, he joined the ‘Saturday Night live’ television show as a writer.
Roddy Ricch (1998-)
Roddy Ricch is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is best known for his distinct style that reflects a Southern influence with an element of West, fused with introspective rhymes and melodic trap. This makes his music relatable to people from both the regions. Roddy has been signed by ‘Atlantic Records.’ Through his music, Roddy spills out the harsh realities of the streets that he faced while growing up. He has even termed himself the “illustrator of the streets.’’ Hailing from the streets of Compton, Roddy has been influenced by artists such as Meek Mill, Future, Speaker Knockerz, and Young Thug, along with the Atlanta trap and Chicago drill styles.
Catherine Deneuve (1943-)
Catherine Deneuve is one of the most respected French actresses known for her Gallic beauty as well as for her roles in films by some of the world’s prominent directors. She made her film debut as early as thirteen and went on to perform in more than 120 films in a career spanning over five decades. She has worked with several eminent directors including Roman Polanski, Roger Vadim, Jacques Demy and Luis Buñuel. Though she played small parts in many of her early films, her real breakthrough came with Jacques Demy’s remarkable musical ‘Les Parapluies de Cherbourg’ (‘The Umbrellas of Cherbourg’) in 1964. Her memorable performance as Geneviève Emery in the film paved way to stardom.
